For his education, Dr. Mark Holterman attended Yale University for a BA in Biology before proceeding to University of Michigan for his MD and PhD in Medicine and Immunology. Since then, he has worked at various hospitals and universities, with a focus on pediatric care. He worked as a resident in general surgery at the University of Virginia before moving to Seattle Children’s Hospital as a fellow in pediatric surgery. From there, he moved to the University of Washington where he served as an instructor in surgery, His work at the Clinical Research Institute Montreal as a research associate focused on immunology research which has played into his interests to date. To pursue his interest in research further, he moved to the University of Illinois, Chicago, as a professor where he was responsible for developing basic and translational research programs.
