Sachedina is a native of East Africa, Tanzania born in Dare salaam which is the second largest city in the country. He studied his primary and secondary education in Tanzania before moving to London where he studied his tertiary education. Shafik Sachedina belongs to the Shia subset of the Islam society known as Ismaili Community. He plays a vital role in ensuring the progress and prosperity of the Ismaili community. Shafik serves as the head of the Muslim community in England. For two terms consecutively, he has served as the Imam of the Community in the UK. Furthermore, he is the head of department at Aga Khan Hospital, Aiglemont France. His role as the head is to interphase the Aga Khan Development society with the Ismaili community in Asia.
Shafik Sachedina is highly respected in England for founding the Sussex Healthcare center together with his friend Shiraz Boghani. Sussex Healthcare is a recognized healthcare clinic based in Horsham West Sussex which provides home care services to geriatrics. It also helps in managing patients suffering from physical disabilities, learning disabilities and those with neurological disorders such as Alzheimer’s syndrome, stress, dementia, lack of appetite, lack of sleep among many other conditions.
Shafik Sachedina is also a philanthropist who is passionate about giving back to the community. Currently, he is the chairman of FOCUS Humanitarian International Committee, which is a charitable organization helping the developing countries which are facing natural calamities and they are impoverished. He is also a board member of the Ismaili Leaders International Forum. He has helped many orphans in Dare Salaam and carried other charitable activities in the middle East countries.
